Chester was in the Army during the Korean War where he learned electronics and was part of the Signal Corps.
He grew up in Dorchester, Nebraska the only son of Christian and Matilda Cast.
As a child with three older sisters, he learned what it was like to be the totally spoiled baby brother.
This trait along with many others helped shape him into the uniquely charming person that he was.
His success in electronics can be directly attributed to his work ethic and his natural mechanical ability.
His reputation to be able to completely duplicate a broken or missing part (usually better than the original) was legendary.
Chester retired from School District 81 in 1987 to pursue his other passions, boating, camping, and travel.

He will be interred there as well.
