Obituary: Bauer, Richard F.

Richard F. Bauer August 9,1931 - February 10, 2015 Geraldine A. Shea Bauer January 29, 1935 - April 16, 2015 Richard (Dick) Bauer and Geraldine (Gerry) Bauer both recently passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at their home in San Jose.

Dick passed on February 10th and Gerry on April 16th.

Dick and Gerry were born, met and married in Spokane, Washington.

They shared 60 wonderful years together in marriage.

Dick attended Lewis & Clark High School and Gonzaga University in Spokane.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Dick was hired as an Aerospace Engineer at Lockheed in Sunnyvale where he had a long and rewarding career, including three years in which they lived in Harrogate, England.

Gerry attended Holy Names Academy and Gonzaga University in Spokane.

Gerry received her Masters in Social Work from San Jose State University, became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, then began private practice as Bauer, Shepherd and Ross Counseling Services in Cupertino.

Dick and Gerry are survived by their five children: Deborah Drljaca (Michael), Michael Bauer (Cathy), Karen Smith (Michael), Mark Bauer, and Shari Flick.

Their grandchildren are Shea Drljaca, Jessica Flick, David Flick, Alena Rosas, Bobby Rosas, Michael Paul Smith, and Christopher Smith.

Great-grandchildren are Lauren and Megan Smith.

Dick’s surviving siblings are Eugene Stanley Bauer and Mary Elaine Foote.

Gerry’s surviving siblings are Micky Shannon, Susan Smith, David Shea, and Garry Shea.

Dick and Gerry were all about family and friends.

They loved to ski, travel, golf, and celebrate life.

They will be well remembered for their warmth, generosity, caring, humor, and love of life.

A celebration of life for Dick and Gerry will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 11:00 am.
