Obituary: Jones, Joellen

Age 82

JONES, JoEllen JoEllen entered peace- fully into rest on June 2nd, at the age of 82.

She was born in Tonasket, WA to Walter and Joyce Weir.

After graduating from high school she moved to Spokane, WA to attend Whitworth College.

In 1952, she married Dick Jones.

She continued to attend Whitworth and in 1954 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and later received an Education degree.

She began her teaching career in Newport, WA, then was hired by the Mead School District where she taught for 31 years.

JoEllen was an active member of Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church beginning in 1950.

She was involved in the choir, hand bells, and playing the organ.

She was also involved in the Whitworth Women’s Auxiliary, where she recently received an honorary lifetime membership.

JoEllen was a woman of many talents.

Besides being an accomplished musician, she was a fabulous cook and baker, as well as an incedible seamstress.

She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

JoEllen is survived by her husband Dick Jones of Spokane; her son Jim and his wife Dayna; her daughter Jennifer and her husband Ronnie Rodriguez; her beloved grandchildren: Leeann (and Paul Shaw), James, Gabe, Tony, Lindsey, Marcus, Alisha and her great-grandsons Dillon and baby Shaw.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Joyce; her brothers, Jim and John.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fairwood Retirement memory care for their loving care of JoEllen.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 27th at 11:00 AM at Whitworth Church.
