Obituary: Tatom, Douglas Allen
Age 54
Doug was born August 8, 1960 in Dumas, Texas to Weldon and Nona Mae Tatom.
Doug graduated from Lakewood high school in Lakewood, CA, and earned an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Doug retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 2004.
He continued work as a football and baseball coach for Post Falls High School, and he served as a Security Officer for Providence Holy Family Hospital.
Doug’s passions were coaching sports along with camping, hiking, fishing, boating, and hunting.
Doug is survived by Tina Tatom, his wife of 26 years; along with his daughter Renee Archer and her husband Zak, and grandson Carson Archer; as well as his sons Shane Tatom and Allen Ewert.
Doug also leaves behind his sisters Sharon Flanagan and her spouse Dan, Marilee Tatom and her spouse Seth, and Debie Tatom; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Viewing will be held Thursday, June 18th from 3-5PM and Friday, June 19th from 7:30 - 8:30AM at ENGLISH FUNERAL CHAPEL IN POST FALLS, IDAHO.
Service will be Friday, June 19th at 9:00AM at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls followed by a Graveside Ceremony at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington at 11:15AM with a reception to follow.
The family of Doug Tatom wishes to thank all the staff at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, and especially the Inland Northwest Thoracic Organ Transplant and Mechanical Heart Program for their wonderful care and support.
In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial donations may be given to The Providence Health Care Foundation to support the heart transplant and mechanical heart program.
