Summer Parkways - Family, fitness and fun is the theme at this annual summer community event. Streets are closed to motorized vehicles and opened up to bikes, pedestrians, skaters and other human-powered transportation. Activities and booths can be found in Manito and Comstock parks and along the designated 4-mile loop, car-free route through the Manito and Comstock neighborhoods. 6-9 p.m. Manito/Comstock parks and neighborhoods Free. Cardboard Car Drive-In Movie: “The Incredibles” - Roll on in with your cardboard car and enjoy a free movie. Rated PG. Need a car for the drive-in? We will have cardboard and other supplies ready for car making two hours before the movie starts, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. All ages are welcome. 5:30 p.m. Broadway Elementary School, 11016 E. Soap Box Challenge Series Race - Special needs children are paired with volunteer drivers and a soap box derby race car for the ride of their life. The derby cars will run down Molter Road at Pavillion Park to Valleyway. The children will then be pulled back to the top of the hill by an ATV. There will be a barbecue after the race. If you have not pre-registered, come to the race and, if possible, we will accommodate you and your child. Excess funds are given to the Guild School, Buddy Ball and HOPE School.
