Obituary: Neubrand, Violet Mae Loshbaugh
Age 93
Born in Valier, MT, Violet would be the first of ten children born to George and Mabel Loshbaugh.
While still a young child the family moved to the Twin Mountain area of Deer Park where Violet attended school at the Twin MT School House, then graduated from Deer Park High School in 1940.
In 1941 she married Walt Neubrand and together for 66 years they farmed, raised cattle, and built a life and family in Williams Valley.
For many years Mom milked cows and sold the milk and cream to help put food on the table.
She later would work sorting potatoes on the Greiff family farm, and as a seamstress and inspector in the sewing factories in Deer Park and Chewelah.
Mom was a member of the Burroughs Ladies Homemaker Club, a member in good standing with TOPS WA #646, and dedicated much of her time organizing community pinochle parties.
She was happiest when surrounded by family and spent many hours hosting holiday dinners and caravaning on family camping trips.
Mom was nothing less than a mother to many raising two grandchildren as her own, and raising a niece after her sister Evelyn passed away.
When all the children were gone Mom took on the role of babysitter for her grandchildren, once again surrounding herself with small laughter.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Homer and Ed Loshbaugh, sister Evelyn Darnold, and three infant siblings.
Surviving siblings are brothers George (Tunney) and Bill Loshbaugh, and sister Stella Batt.
Also preceded in death were her husband Walt Neubrand in 2007, daughters Sharon and Sally, and granddaughter Sarah.
Surviving children are Walter H. Neubrand, Dixie (Warren) Kendall, Terri Earle, Rodney Neubrand all of Spokane, and Rosalie (Bob) Heath of Inchelium.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to those who have helped us care for our mother, allowing her to stay in her home until the time of her passing.
Many thanks to our previous caregivers Emily Eby and Clarissa Prettyman, and to our very special Alley McNeil and Tracy Baughn.
None of our lives would have been the same without the love and care you extended to our mother, we are eternally grateful.
Services honoring our mother will be held at the Happy Home Community Church in Deer Park, directed by the Lauer Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Christianson officiating on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. (Visitation open Sunday from 1-3:00 pm at the funeral home.)
Following interment at the Woodland Cemetery, please join us for a gathering at the Wild Rose Community Center.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association, or Hospice of Spokane.
