Obituary: Alcorn, Martin
Age 61
You don’t have to be a titan of industry to make a difference.
Martin Alcorn, raised in Hawaii, molded by good parents and all the social agencies in his public housing.
Worked with every age children.
Made life-long friends.
At 23, he met his soul mate.
They shared laughter, adventure, and fun for almost 40 years.
Built three apartments .

Sold out.
Relocated to Spokane in 1990.
The cottage they bought was small, but neighborhood large in welcome.
Spent 25 years creating their perfect retirement home.
Took a two-year degree in HVAC at Spokane Community College.
On dean’s list for all but one semester (said he had to learn how to turn on his adding machine).
Joined the Banner family.
Co-workers and customers became his vocation.
Did an honorable job of service and repair.
Could also find him giving pets snacks, playing guitar for children, and changing light bulbs for smaller people.
He did a lot of community work, helped friends and neighbors.
Block Watch for 24 houses.
Martin loved adventure: parasailing, sky diving, swimming with the sharks.
He rappelled off a 20-story building to raise funds for the Special Olympics.
When he got cancer, Banner kept him on medical leave, paid his insurance, and helped him and his wife.
We thank them, family, friends, neighbors, the medical team, and Hospice of Spokane for all the practical help and support.
At Martin’s request, there will be no flowers and no funeral.
His life was his service.
