Obituary: Graham, Ian Edward

Age 58

GRAHAM, Ian Edward (Age 58) Was born in Cambridge, MA, on October 3, 1956, to Edward and Marion Graham and passed away February 13, 2015 in Spokane, WA.

Ian moved to Derry, NH, in 1965, where he attended schools and graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1974.

He especially enjoyed the theatre group run by his Aunt, Elizabeth Ives, and this interest led him to major in Television/Radio.

In 1981, Ian married Rebecca (Becky) Knox, of Syracuse, NY.

They lived in Brooklyn and Florida, NY, later moving to west Spokane in 1989.

Ian very much enjoyed his work and all that NYC had to offer.

He commuted to Manhattan while working as Studio Manager for a video production company and his broad knowledge and huge heart allowed him to relate effortlessly to people from all ages and backgrounds.

With a passion for gourmet cooking, Ian worked on a variety of shows, including Redbook Family Chef, Commander USA’s Groovy Movies and numerous other documentaries, specials and advertising; working with everyone from the Muppets to Gregory Peck.

The Woods and Water hunting and fishing show, fueled his love of nature and Ian enjoyed many trips around the country.

Family trips to Glacier National Park and Yellowstone drew him west and, after moving to Spokane, Ian was Creative Director and Editor of Image Productions.

Ian used all of his talents, including his Voice - from concepts, research, writing, production, editing and marketing - a virtual video wizard.

Projects included fundraising pieces for Catholic Charities, CancerPatientCare, SNAP, and many others.

He was justifiably proud that their fundraising projects always reached and usually exceeded goals, and were usually returned in services to the community.

Exploring the Northwest with Becky was a favorite pastime.

Ian also loved animals, as a series of faithful dogs knew (he spoke “dog” well).

Active in state and county politics, Ian was a passionate Democrat.

Ian is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Knox) Graham; mother, Marion (Ives) Willis; brother, Gordon Graham; stepbrother, Peter Graham; stepsister, Ann (Graham) Nichols; stepsister, Janet (Willis) Jones; stepbrother, Richard Willis; dearly beloved aunts, Margaret and Elizabeth Ives; uncle, Robert T. Ives; and adored nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Ian was brilliant, mercurial, funny, creative and artistic, with an incisive imagination; a real individualist.

A truly endearing man, this gentle giant passed too soon and will be sorely missed.

There will be a gathering to Celebrate Ian’s life in Spokane on March 22, and in Derry, N. H, on April 18, 2015.
