Obituary: Greene, Raymond Leonard

GREENE, Raymond Leonard Passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015.

He was born March 11, 1935 in Granger, Washington.

Ray was the son of William George Pretty Green and Ursula Ann Stuber.

Ray is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Beth Greene; son and daughter-in-law Ron and Debi Greene; daughter Cheryl Mills and son Jay Greene and Ray’s grandchildren Ian Greene, Brian Greene, Aaron Greene, Tricia and Dennis Kauffman and Lisa Mills.

He is also survived by his sister Lilian Bryant and many nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill Greene, his sister Bernadine Wichelman and his brother Ben Greene.

Ray was married to Gloria Porter until 1968 and married Alice Kraut in 1970.

Alice passed away in 2004.

Ray enjoyed being outdoors boating, hunting, fishing, riding his recreational vehicles, harvesting wild berries, working on many projects including remodeling and improving his home in Post Falls, helping with his children’s homes, planting and gardening and his wood working projects.

He also enjoyed dancing with his companion Geraldine Smith.

Ray supported activities of the Boy Scouts of America Priest Lake Troup 612.

Ray served on many committee’s including the Coolin/Cavanagh Bay Sewer District, Priest Lake water quality the snowmobile committee.

He helped start the volunteer fire department in Coolin, Idaho.

Ray was a member of the Eagles and he served in the Priest Lake PTA.

Ray spent a rewarding career serving the State of Idaho Department of Lands.

He advanced through the ranks from firefighter eventually reaching the position of supervisor of the Priest Lake area.

Ray provided 41 years of excellent service to the state of Idaho.

He was called to serve in the United States Army where he served as a medic.

There will be a public viewing on Monday, March 2nd at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2 pm.

The service will be held at ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME, 1700 N. Spokane Street, Post Falls, Idaho there will also be a celebration of his life in July.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Ray Greene’s name to American Heart Association.
