Obituary: Cummings, David G.

Age 68

CUMMINGS, David G. David G. Cumming was born in Glasgow, Montana May 18, 1946 and passed away January 31, 2015 at the age of 68 due to complications from pneumonia.

As the son of a minister, the family moved to Nebraska, back to Montana, California, Missouri, Illinois and Spokane, Washington.

David graduated from high school in Rockford, Illinois in 1964.

After high school he attended Spokane Community College.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1965 and was a Sergeant upon discharge.

David was awarded the Bronze Star Medal while proudly completing three tours in Vietnam.

After the military, he graduated from Whitworth College with a Bachelor’s degree in history in 1971.

David worked for the State of Washington for over 25 years, most notably as a probation and parole officer and in the Department of Labor and Industries.

His happiest times were on Aunt Jean’s farm near Billings, Montana as a teenager.

He treasured family vacations at Vashon Island and on Lake Coeur d’Alene and was a devoted and loving father.

He is survived by his children Danny and Kelsey, his mother Jane, and sisters Mary and Martha.

He was preceded in death by his father John.

A Memorial Service will be held March 7 at 1:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Spokane Valley, 1315 N. Pines Rd.
