Obituary: Sauer, Frances L. “Fran”
Age 81
She was born September 13, 1933 at Steele, N.D. to Leo and Gladys (McGurran) Sauer.
Frances started grade school in Tappen, N.D. in 1939.
The family moved to Glendive, MT in 1943, then to Glasgow, MT in 1949 where Fran graduated from high school in 1952.
In 1952, she entered the Sisters of Charity of Providence Convent in Seattle, WA.
After her final Vows, Fran attended the College of Education in Great Falls, MT from 1954 - 1963.
She received a bachelor’s degree in education.
She then attended the University of Dayton, Ohio from 1966 - 1972 where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education.
Fran taught elementary school for 40 years in Wisconsin, Montana, Washington, Idaho, and Illinois.
In 1975, she moved to Tekoa to take care of her mother, Gladys Sauer.
She later went to work at the Plummer - Worley Grade School until she retired in 2002.
Following her retirement, Fran kept active working with the Food Commodities Program in Tekoa.
Fran enjoyed her many friends in the Tekoa area and was a loyal member of the Tuesday and Thursday Coffee Club.
She also had many friends at the Coeur d’Alene Wellness Center over the past 10 years.
Frances was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tekoa.
Her hobbies included crocheting and reading.
Fran loved her many cats she had throughout the years.
Survivors include her three sisters, Colleen Winn, Mary (Jerry) Heitt, and Cathy (Ron) Flock all of Tekoa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are two special friends, Candi Fisher of Steptoe, WA and Sister Dorothy Byrne of Spokane.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Tekoa Ambulance Fund, Box 597, Tekoa, WA, 99033 or to your favorite Humane Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tekoa, WA.
Rosary will be Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Father Mike Savelesky will officiate at the service and burial will follow at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.
