Westbrook triple-double paces OKC

NBA: Russell Westbrook had yet another triple-double and scored 17 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter to help the Oklahoma City Thunder defeat the visiting Atlanta Hawks 123-115 on Friday night.

It was Westbrook’s seventh triple-double since the All-Star break, his ninth of the season and 17th of his career. He had 10 rebounds and 14 assists while making all 17 of his free throws.

Pero Antic scored a career-high 22 points and Dennis Schroder added 21 for the Eastern Conference-leading Hawks.

• Randolph leads Grizzlies past Mavericks: Zach Randolph scored 21 points, Marc Gasol had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and the visiting Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Dallas Mavericks 112-101.

The victory ended a three-game road losing streak for the Grizzlies, their longest of the season. Dallas had a three-game winning streak halted and finished a season-high five-game homestand 3-2.

The Mavericks were led by Dirk Nowitzki and Devin Harris with 16 points each.

• Mirotic, Noah lead Bulls past Lowry-less Raptors: Nikola Mirotic matched a career high with 29 points to propel the Chicago Bulls to a 108-92 victory over the visiting Toronto Raptors, who were without All-Star guard Kyle Lowry.

Joakim Noah had 10 rebounds, equaled a career high with 14 assists and scored eight points to come within one basket of a triple-double.

The Bulls pulled a half-game ahead of the Raptors for third place in the Eastern Conference.

DeMar DeRozan led Toronto with 27.

• Taj Gibson returns from ankle injury for Bulls: Bulls reserve forward Taj Gibson returned against the Toronto Raptors after missing the previous 10 games with a sprained left ankle. Gibson played 11 minutes and scored six points with three rebounds.

Chicago is still without Jimmy Butler (left elbow) and Derrick Rose (right knee).

Killorn breaks tie; Lightning beat Wings

NHL: Alex Killorn scored a tiebreaking goal midway through the third period, Ben Bishop made 30 saves and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 in Tampa, Florida.

The second-place Lightning hold an eight-point advantage over the Red Wings in the Atlantic Division.

Tomas Tatar scored for the Red Wings, who have lost six of eight.

Hoffman takes 3-shot lead at Bay Hill

Golf: Equipped with his first PGA Tour lead in 67 starts, Morgan Hoffmann played like he wanted to keep it a little longer in the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, Florida.

Hoffmann made nine birdies for a 7-under 65 and had a three-shot lead over Henrik Stenson, Harris English and defending champion Matt Every going into the weekend at Bay Hill. Every, Stenson and English each shot a 66.

Hoffmann was at 13-under 131, one short of the 36-hole record at Bay Hill.

The cut was 142, matching the lowest score to make the cut in Bay Hill history.

• Ha Na Jang leads LPGA Tour’s Founders Cup: Ha Na Jang topped the crowded leaderboard when darkness ended play at the LPGA Tour’s JTBC Founders Cup in Phoenix.

Jang birdied her final four holes to reach 11 under with seven holes left in the second round. She opened with a 4-under 68 on Thursday at Desert Ridge.

Fellow South Korean player Hyo Joo Kim was a stroke back.

Stacy Lewis and Kim Kaufman were 9 under.

• Jerry Smith aces, leads Tucson Conquistadores: Jerry Smith had a hole-in-one and shot a 7-under 65 to take the first-round lead in the Champions Tour’s inaugural Tucson (Arizona) Conquistadores Classic.

The 50-year-old Smith used a 5-iron on the 212-yard seventh hole – his 16th hole of the day – on Tucson National’s Catalina Course.

He played the final nine holes in 6-under 30.

Colin Montgomerie, David Frost, Steve Pate and Marco Dawson were tied for second at 67.

Federer rolls; Nadal upset by Raonic

Tennis: Roger Federer defeated Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-0 and Milos Raonic outlasted Rafael Nadal 4-6, 7-6 (10), 7-5 in a nearly three-hour marathon to set up a semifinal showdown at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California.

Federer improved to 15-1 this year. He needed just 68 minutes to advance to the semis against the sixth-seeded Raonic.

Top-ranked Novak Djokovic takes on fourth-seeded Andy Murray in the other men’s semifinal today.

Raonic beat three-time Indian Wells champion Nadal for the first time in six career meetings, firing 18 aces and hitting 48 winners.

Serena Williams withdraws from semifinal: Serena Williams withdrew from her semifinal at the BNP Paribas Open because of a right knee injury.

The world’s top-ranked player was set to play third-seeded Simona Halep in the second semifinal. Williams was back at Indian Wells for the first time in 14 years, ending a personal boycott.

After Williams’ brief comments in which she didn’t clarify she had withdrawn, fans applauded with only a few boos. As she walked off, the announcer said she wouldn’t be playing and he apologized. Williams stopped to sign some autographs on her way out.

Williams called returning to Indian Wells next year “a must.”

She said she wasn’t nervous facing the crowd after withdrawing.

“I think both myself and the crowd have a great appreciation for each other,” she said.

In the other semifinal, No. 18 Jelena Jankovic beat 24th-seeded Sabine Lisicki 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

• Ohio State widens lead in NCAA wrestling: Logan Stieber stayed unbeaten with a third dominant showing in his bid for a fourth national title, and Ohio State widened its lead in the quarterfinals of the NCAA wrestling championships in St. Louis. The Buckeyes had 64 1/2 points Friday, followed by Iowa with 47 1/2, Missouri with 45, Cornell with 41 1/2 and Edinboro with 40 1/2.

Stieber (27-0) won by technical fall at 142 pounds over ninth-seeded Anthony Abidin of Nebraska, his second technical fall of the tournament to go with a pin. He was among five Buckeyes in the championship bracket entering the semifinals.

• Golden Gophers back to Frozen Four final: Hannah Brandt and Maryanne Menefee each had a goal and two assists and Minnesota beat Wisconsin 3-1 in a Frozen Four semifinal in Minneapolis.

Kelly Pannek also scored for the top-seeded Golden Gophers (33-3-4), who are seeking a third national title in four years and sixth overall. Amanda Leveille made 34 saves.

Fourth-seeded Wisconsin (29-7-4) got its lone goal from Annie Pankowski.
