Obituary: Delong, Dennis Hadley

DELONG, Dennis Hadley Dennis Hadley DeLong, 89, passed away April 20th, 2015, at Marine Court Community Center in Bremerton, WA.

Friends and family may gather at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton, WA for a viewing which will be held May 1st from 4-8pm and a celebration of his life will follow May 2nd at 12pm.

He is the beloved husband of Luella DeLong.

Loving father to Brian DeLong, Renee Beals, and Kristie DeLong.

Devoted grandfather to Jesse Beals, Natasha Beals, Lena DeLong, Torry DeLong, Colter DeLong, and Dillon Coleman.

Proud Great-Grandfather to Austin Ford and Aubree Beals.

Dear brother to Pat DeLong, Darcy DeLong, Joe DeLong, Don DeLong, and sister Theoria Engstrom.

Father and Grandfather-in-law to Diane DeLong, Brenda Smith and Rachell Beals.

Dennis was preceded in death by his granddaughter Brandi Rae Beals and brother Russell Delong.

Dennis was born November 4th, 1925, in Fall City, WI, to Milton and Ruth DeLong.

At a young age he moved with his family to Somers MT.

This is where he spent his childhood and later worked nine years at the Somers Tie Plant.

Dennis proudly served in WWII as a Message Center Clerk, after his service in the U.S. Military he moved to Spokane, WA to attend Kinmans Business College.

He became employed at Kaiser Aluminum in 1952.

Dennis married the love of his life Luella DeLong on June 14th, 1953.

They together created 61 years of loving memories throughout four generations.

Traditions and lives that will continue to pass on his legacy and dreams.

While employed at Kaiser Dennis became very active in the Union 338.

He served on many different committees, and was devoted to his work.

He retired December 31st, 1992 after serving 40 years of employment.

Anyone who met Dennis never forgot him.

His smile, razor-sharp wit and terrific sense of humor made him that unique individual who made friends easily wherever he went.

Dennis was dearly loved by all of his family.

He was an honest, hardworking man from humble beginnings with little education who built a successful career, family and home.

He always took care of his loved ones.

Dennis also enjoyed daily walks, exercising, shopping for cars, politics, getting his photo taken, and meeting new friends.

He advocated a healthy diet and positive lifestyle.
