Obituary: Staples, Bud
Age 79
We know he is finally free of pain and has gone to be with our Lord.
He never complained and for almost eight months, he just accepted what life had presented to him.
Amazing attitude from this wonder- ful man we call, honey, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and friend…..
He was born on October 18, 1935 to Hazel and Charles Staples in Spokane, Washington.
They preceded him in death along with his siblings: Jack, and Richard Staples; and his children Lori and Brent.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 58 years, Diane; his daughter Brenda Reid, (Bryan); his son Charles (Buddy) and wife Doreen; his brother Wyman Staples (Betty) also survives him.
Bud attended St. Paschals grade school and attended Gonzaga High School for a short time.
He later attended and graduated from St. Edwards High School in Austin, Texas in 1953.
After High School he joined the Marine Corps and served his country during the Korean War; He was with the 1st Division.
After his discharge he came back to Spokane and met and married Diane Olsness.
They had four children: Brenda, Charles, Lori and Brent.
His grandchildren: Breanna Reid, Lindsee (Cliff) Poffenroth, Whitney Reid, Chelsea, Ramsey, Julian, and Kylie Staples, Chad and Abigail Staples; great-grandchildren: Tresten and Taylor Mashtare, Ryan, Kendall and Beau Poffenroth, Faith and Sami Reid.
He is survived by several neices and nephews; sisters-in-law: Donna Franz and family, Joanne Bradley, and brother-in-law, Dick Hughes (Molly).
He loved to cook, camped, played cards, and mostly enjoyed the family gatherings.
He was a coach for the Little League team that was a large part of his life.
He worked for Laidlaw for 15 years before retiring.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday May 7, 2015 at 1:00pm, at Cornerstone Community Church, 4032 W. Heroy, Spokane, Washington Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
