Controlled burns planned for Cda watershed

Staff reports
The Idaho Panhandle National Forests is planning to conduct controlled burns today in the upper reaches of the North Fork Coeur d’Alene River. Between 500 to 1,000 acres are scheduled for burning, depending on weather conditions. Lingering smoke and hot spots are likely to remain in the area for several days. Signs will be posted along local roads and people are urged to avoid the burn areas as ignition will take place very quickly using a helicopter. Firefighters will continue to monitor the burned areas until the fires are completely out. For more information, visit www.northidahorxfire.com.
