Obituary: Carr, Francis Bernard

CARR, Francis Bernard Frank passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 22, 2015 and was 90 years old.

He graduated from O’Dea High School then joined the Navy in 1943 and served aboard the U.S.S.

Columbia until 1946.

He was awarded two Purple Hearts, the Gold Star, Presidential Unit Citation, Victory Metal, Navy Unit Citation, Pacific Theater 6 Stars, American Theater and the Philippine Liberation 2 Stars medals.

After graduating from Gonzaga Law School in 1951 he worked for the Federal Government before starting his own law firm in Spokane.

Frank then moved his practice to Snohomish, WA and became City Attorney and District Court Commissioner.

Frank decided to leave law, purchased Spectacle Lake Resort in Tonasket, WA, where he stayed until moving back to Spokane in 1981 and became Corporate Council for R.A. Hanson Corp. until 1988.

He was preceded in death by his wife Louise; brothers William, Tom and Jim; sister Nora Carr, SNJM; daughter Bette Vail; grandson Danny Vail and granddaughter Deanna Vail.

Frank is survived by his sister, Mary Kate, SNJM; two sons, Michael and Timothy; son-in-law Pat Vail, grandchildren Shannon, Erin, Debbie & Patti; and Connie Kelley.

We would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Avalon Care Center Northpointe, who cared for him during his illness, especially Dr. Vanderbosch for his friendship and counsel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday, May 16th at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
