Obituary: Renfrew, Amy Myrtle
Age 91
She was one of eleven children born to Gottlieb and Elizabeth Neibrandt Pohl.
All of her siblings, with the exception of her sister Elsie, predeceased her.
Amy’s fingers were short, thick and arthritic due to being frozen when she was an infant, and she had one bad leg because of a botched surgery but she could work miracles.
Amy married John Victor Renfrew on April 16th 1949.
They built a home together, rearing three children: Debra Ann, Merle Lynn, and Rudy Schurrer.
Amy was a superb wife and mother, sewing clothes for her family, cooking meals from scratch, baking cookies, cakes and pies and keeping a spotless home.
She loved gardening, growing vegetables and trimming shrubs and trees.
Amy loved God, America and her family.
She placed a very high value on education: taking her children to the library and reading to them.
Amy was known for her dimples, hospitality, generosity, volunteering and her forgiving nature.
Most of the people that knew her well thought that she was an angel , a Saint sent to earth.
Amy’s son Rudy died at 33 on December 11th 1984 in an accident at work.
Her husband John died on February 25th 2008.
Amy’s daughter Debra remains in the family home in Spokane, Merle in Las Vegas and Merle’s daughter Kim in Maryland.
