Obituary: Lewis, Alice (Hoffman)

Age 91

LEWIS, Alice (Hoffman) Alice passed away peacefully at her home on May 7, 2015.

She was born in Burt, ND on June 20, 1923 the daughter of Fred and Frieda Hoffman.

The seventh of ten children, she survived all but one of her siblings.

Alice grew up on a sugar beet farm in Harden, MT and at the age of 18, she moved to San Diego, CA to work in a defense plant during World War II.

After returning home, she met and married Jack William Lewis and began raising a family.

She had a green thumb and could grow anything, and she was a terrific cook and seamstress.

Later in life she loved to travel, watch old western movies and loved to eat at Red Lobster (Table #17).

Most of all, she loved her family and they were everything to her.

She is survived by her children: Richard Lewis, Duane Lewis of Lancaster, CA, Jack Lewis, Jr., and Patricia (Doug) Burke; grandchildren: Hans Richard, Jason, James (Sarah), Jennifer, Emma (AJ), Kyle and Molly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Lewis, Sr. and her daughter Pamela Hufford.

A graveside service was held in her honor at Holy Cross Cemetery on Wednesday, May 13.
