In brief: Northwest Neighborhood Council meets today
SPOKANE COUNTY – Washington State Association of College Trustees recently named Greg Bever Trustee of the Year. He was chosen from a pool of 150 trustees from the state’s two-year college districts.
Bever was appointed to the Community Colleges of Spokane Board of Trustees in 2007 and served as board president in 2010 and 2012. He is the current president of the Association of College Trustees. Bever previously worked as the Valley operations manager for The Spokesman-Review.
Newman Lake tea planned May 28
NEWMAN LAKE – The Newman Lake Ladies Aid will host its annual spring tea on May 28.
The theme this year is “Hop into Spring.”
The tea will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Tri-Community Grange, 25025 Heather St., off Starr Road.
A $5 donation is recommended. Funds raised support the local elementary school milk fund and the community Christmas families.
Sandwich drive benefits shelters
SPOKANE – The dining team at Gonzaga University, along with fellow Sodexo campuses Northern Arizona University and Colorado Mesa University, recently participated in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich drive. Gonzaga donated the sandwiches it made to Union Gospel Mission, which distributed them to four women and children’s shelters.
