Obituary: Miller, Leslie William

Age 70

MILLER, Leslie William (Age 70) Passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015 at his home in Kenai, Alaska.

He was born to William and Hazel (Falkenhagen) Miller on Thursday, March 1, 1945 in Fairview, MT.

He lived most of his life in Spokane, Washington; singing in a folk band in his early days while attending Spokane Community College and eventually owned Miller’s Trustworthy Hardware with his father.

In 1989, Les moved to Alaska and in 2002 married Sylvia Vinson, with whom he shared 13 years of happy marriage; finding enjoyment in snow birding together in Surprise, Arizona towards the conclusion of his life.

Les is often referred to by friends and family as having “a passion for life”, never letting a hunting trip, fishing trip or pig roast on the river pass him by.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Les is survived by his loving wife Sylvia; his three children, Samantha and husband, Paul Tennant, Matthew Miller and wife, Yolanda, and Ana Kopczynski and Greg; step children, Marie and husband, Justin Goodman, and Jessie Vinson; siblings, Beverly and husband, Ronald Verbeck, Doug Miller and wife, Julie, and Diane and husband, Patrick Knowles; brother in law, Antonette and husband Ronald Walker, Frank and Mary Zappitelli and Tony and Nina Zappitelli and nine grandchildren.

Leslie Miller touched so many of our lives; he will be forever missed but cherished and remembered in all of our hearts.

There will be a Celebration of Life in lieu of the traditional annual pig roast on the river on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Miller’s home.
