Health clinic a big win
Not long ago, it was an old rail yard. Now, Spokane’s University District is vibrant and growing, attracting investment, education, research and entrepreneurial activity. The latest project, kicking off this month, is an exciting new partnership: the University District Health Clinic.
With this project, Washington State University, Empire Health Foundation and Providence Health have joined forces to address the shortage of graduate medical education in Eastern Washington. The clinic will give Spokane medical students an opportunity to practice during their residencies, while training side-by-side with other health sciences students.
We’ll all benefit from this intraprofessional training setting. It will provide a rich learning environment for medical professionals and high-quality services for Inland Northwest residents seeking treatment. It is one part of the solution to the shortage of rural medical services and it will strengthen our local economy.
In fact, it’s hard to imagine a downside. Thanks for the leadership displayed by the partners and congratulations to everyone who has been involved with this inspiring and cooperative University District project.
