Obituary: Regalado, Daniel M.

REGALADO, Daniel M. Our beloved dad, Daniel Regalado entered into heaven on May 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Daniel was born on October 27, 1934 in Ennis, Texas to Macario and Beatrice Regalado.

He was the eldest of 12 children and learned the value of hard work at an early age as the family moved around in search of work finally settling in Phoenix Arizona.

As a young man, he had the desire to learn about the bible and enrolled in a Bible school in Texas and later felt the call to ministry.

He became a pastor upon graduation and served the Lord for over 40 years.

While at Bible school, he met his wife Elisa Diaz and they were married on June 25, 1955.

They moved to the Yakima Valley in 1957 to pastor a church there, later moving to Othello where they lived for 47 years.

He remained a well-respected and beloved leader throughout his career.

He pastored in Othello, Moses Lake and extended his ministry to the region including a prison ministry.

One of his greatest joys and talents was singing and playing the piano.

People loved to hear him sing, and he loved doing it because he did it for the Lord.

Daniel was regarded as one of the original leaders and advocates of the Othello Spanish speaking community, specifically in areas of opportunity and education.

Everyone who met him loved him and there were few lives that he did not touch.

He and his wife moved to Spokane, WA in the spring of 2013.

He continued to work as a medical language interpreter, still serving the Spanish-speaking community in Spokane, until an illness prevented him from continuing.

Subsequently, he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma.

He fought this cancer with grace and dignity, until the day he was called home to his Lord and Master.

In the eyes of his family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him, he was truly one of the most kind, humble, respected, and faithful men to walk among us.

Dad genuinely loved all people, and in return, people couldn’t help but love him.

He was the perfect example of patience, wisdom, and faith.

His legacy will carry multitudes with him to eternity.

To bring glory to Christ by presenting the gospel was his greatest desire and purpose of his life.

We will miss him and cherish his life forever, and look forward to our reunion with him again.

He is survived by his wife Elisa of Spokane, children Ron (Kathryn) of Bellevue, WA; Ed (Deanne) of Minot, ND; Charles (Linda) of Spokane; Kathy Alston (Jerry) of Temecula, CA; Jerry (Stephanie) of Spokane; daughter-in-law Nancy of Spokane; nine siblings, 14 grand- children and eight great-grandchildren with a 9th on the way.

His son Richard preceded him to heaven.

Services were held in Othello on Friday and Saturday May 29 and 30th.

Burial was at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens in Othello.
