Obituary: Rendall, Gerald “Jerry”

Age 73

RENDALL, Gerald “Jerry” Passed away peace-fully on October 26, 2015 at the Hospice House of Spokane.

Jerry was born to William Douglas and Nina Llewella Rendall on November 24th 1941 in Marshall, Michigan.

As a young boy, Jerry actively participated in 4-H showing his horse, partaking in trail rides, and excelling in woodworking.

He spent much of his childhood fishing, swimming, and hunting with his dad all over the Michigan landscape.

He graduated from high school in 1959 and went on to attend both Ferris State College and Battle Creek Community College.

In the 1960’s, Jerry headed out west and took a job in Lewiston, Idaho working for the Potlatch Corporation as a paper salesman.

While in Lewiston, he met his bride-to-be, Mary Jo Fulvio, and in 1969 they were married.

The next day they packed all of their belongings and drove to Dallas, Texas where Jerry was transferred.

From there, they moved to a suburb just outside of Chicago, Illinois.

In 1971, they returned to Lewiston and both continued working at Potlatch.

Later that same year, they welcomed their first child, Julia (JJ) into their family.

Three years later, they welcomed their second daughter, Patty.

In 1976, the family moved to Spokane, Washington and Jerry began working for Blake Moffit and Town.

Much of Jerry’s life was happily consumed with his daughters’ athletic endeavors while frequently traveling around the Pacific Northwest to an abundant amount of soccer games.

He was able to carry on the tradition and watch his granddaughter, Riley begin playing.

He was also a huge fan of the Gonzaga University Women’s Soccer Team.

In addition, Jerry coached and refereed for the Spokane Valley Junior Soccer Association.

In August 1985, Jerry experienced a significant life-changing event when he underwent a kidney transplant in which he received from his sister, Carmen Kimmel.

He was the longest living recipient of a donated kidney in the state of Washington at the time of his death.

He was eternally grateful to his older sister for extending his life another 31 years.

Jerry continued working in the Health Insurance Industry and was always considered an honest, reliable, and hard-working salesman.

He advocated for his clients and it wasn’t uncommon to see his clients approach him in public and offer a handshake or a sincere greeting.

He took great pride in the relationships he had sustained over the years with all of his friends and clients.

Jerry was an avid golfer from the age of 14 when he began as a caddy at the Marshall Country Club.

He played all four years at Marshall High School.

Once he semi-retired, he was found on a local golf course at least three days a week.

Golf continued to be an outlet for him throughout his battle with cancer.

Other hobbies he had were bowling, fishing, and working in his yard.

Come basketball season, he was glued to the television watching the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Julia (JJ) Rendall (Amy Edwards) Spokane, Patty Miller (Mark) Spokane, grandchildren Hayden and Riley Miller (Spokane), sister Carmen Kimmel (Jerry) Granbury, Texas, nieces Chris Pearce (David) Weatherford, Texas, Amy Mueller (David) Keller, Texas, and nephew Greg Kimmel (Jennifer) Fort Worth, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jo (Fulvio) Rendall, mother Nina Llewella Rendall, and father William Douglas Rendall.

Jerry will be truly missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him.

As per his request there will be no funeral services.
