Obituary: Standen Iii, Charles A.,
He was born on August 22, 1939 in Bellingham, WA to Charles A. and Genevieve Standen.
Chuck graduated from Bellingham High School in 1957 and went on to graduate from Washington State University in 1962.
He married Philis Parker and they had two children, David and Cathy.
He started his professional career as a junior high math teacher in Kent, WA and then after several years of teaching, embarked on a new career in the insurance industry in the marketing department for Safeco Insurance.
The family moved to Spokane in 1971 and then spent several years in Boise, ID before returning to Spokane in 1977.
Tiring of the corporate world, Chuck purchased an insurance agency in Deer Park in 1979.
He became a prominent member of the Deer Park community and in 1991, Chuck married Ellen Keller.
He was active in Rotary and Chamber of Commerce, serving as president for both organizations.
He was also an active supporter of the school district and worked closely with them on several projects.
In 2006, Chuck sold the insurance agency and he and Ellen enjoyed becoming snowbirds and travelling south to various areas in Southern California and Arizona to spend the winter.
They enjoyed the travel, golfing and meeting many new friends in their “southern home.”
Chuck was a lifelong Wazzu fan and enjoyed going to Cougar football games with family and friends.

He also loved to golf and spent many an afternoon at the local Deer Park Golf Course.
Chuck is survived by his wife Ellen and her children Greg Keller and Semra Keller; son David and his wife Laura and grandson, Drew; daughter Cathy Childers and her husband Paul and grandchildren, Bryan, Rachael and Sarah; sister Mary Bastedo and her daughter Cheryl Bastedo; brother John Standen; and brother Richard Standen and his wife Jenny and daughter, Allison.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m at Open Door Congregational Church, 205 N. Main Street, Deer Park, WA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Deer Park Rotary Scholarship Fund at P.O.
1234, Deer Park, WA 99006 or the American Cancer Society.
