Obituary: Andrus, Donna Scott

Age 95

ANDRUS, Donna Scott Lifelong LaCrosse resident, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at The Courtyard in Colfax.

She was 95.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 7th at 11:00 am at the LaCrosse Methodist Church with Pastor Roger Downing officiating.

Donna was born April 22, 1920 in LaCrosse, the youngest of four girls born to Ira and Ethel (Kern) Scott.

Growing up in LaCrosse as one of the “Scott girls” was easy for Donna.

She kept very active in school with music, drama, violin and tap dance.

She was a well gifted musician and could play the piano and organ beautifully by ear.

She graduated from the LaCrosse High School in 1937.

Following high school Donna worked in the LaCrosse hardware store for a time.

She married a handsome man she had known in town for many years.

Donna and Edwin “Bus” Andrus married in Colfax on January 23, 1942.

They made their home in LaCrosse where Bus owned and operated the LaCrosse Transfer trucking business.

Donna kept busy as a homemaker, wife and mother.

She served as a room mother and Cub Scout leader for her children and she was also very active in the LaCrosse United Methodist Church and in its women’s organization.

Donna and Bus started the Andrus Insurance Agency in LaCrosse in the early 70s and Donna worked there for the next twenty years.

They also had expanded their trucking business to include fertilizers and other Ag related products.

She never missed a Cougar home game, rain or shine, and was an avid Cougar fan.

She was a member of the WSU Cougar Club, a reading club, and of the Washington Association of Wheat Growers.

Donna and Bus retired in 1993 and enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Williams Lake.

They also followed their grandchildren in many of their activities, worked in their yard, or visited with friends in town.

Bus passed away December 17, 2000.

Donna continued to live an active life in LaCrosse until moving to the Courtyard this summer.

Most important to Donna was her family and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was so proud of all of them.

She is survived by her two children, Nancy (Jim) Patterson of Gooding, Idaho and Jeff (Cindy) Andrus of LaCrosse; as well as by five grandchildren, Amanda Patterson, Kira (Doug) Mitchell, John Scott (Stephanie) Patterson, Shane (Lorena) Andrus and Frank (Jamie) Andrus; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Donna was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Velma Camp, Jeanne Hamill, and Dora Ryan.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the LaCrosse Methodist Church or to the LaCrosse Community Pride.
