GROLLMUS, John Mark M.D.

John Mark Grollmus, M.D., a neurosurgeon, passed away at age 76 on September 27, 2015 at the Aldersley Skilled Nursing facility in San Rafael, California.

He was born on April 19, 1939 in Appleton, Wisconsin to the Reverend August and Evelyne Grollmus.

John grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin where he graduated from North High School in 1957.

After high school, he attended Elmhurst College (‘61) in Elmhurst, Illinois and then Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri.

John was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy where he served as a flight surgeon from 1965 to 1969.

He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of California in San Francisco, and then began his surgical practice in Spokane, Washington in 1974.

John moved back to California is 1989 where he continued to practice in Marin County and Santa Rosa until his retirement.

John was always ready with a joke, enjoyed skiing, adored his pet cats and was a passionate wine collector.

John is survived by his wife of 22 years, Laura Grollmus of San Francisco, and his two children with his first wife Judy Grollmus of Spokane, Washington.

John’s daughter Julie Gruber, her husband Rick, and their two daughters, Kate and Ellie, live in San Mateo, California.

John’s son John Grollmus Jr. lives in Post Falls, Idaho.

John’s sister, Joanne Bode and her husband Erv live in Broomfield, Colorado.

John’s brother Joel passed away earlier this year in April in American Canyon, California.
