Obituary: Smith, William T. “Bill”

Age 89

SMITH, William T. “Bill” (Age 89) Bill passed away peace- fully on November 1, 2015 at East Adams Care Center in Ritzville, WA.

He was born April 7, 1926 to Mark and Anna (Havlicek) Smith and grew up in Odessa, graduating in 1944.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Enza Smith; three children: Sharon (Dave) Iverson, Gary (Terria) Smith and Terry (Linda) Smith; 11 grandchildren: Christine (Kevin) Veon, Skeeter (Justin) Holder, Alyson (Travis) Williams, Angela (Greg) Allington, Dusty (Carolyn) Smith, Lauri (Aaron) Reilly, Brenik (Kamie) Iverson, Becky (Colin) Guhlke, Nick (Brynn) Smith, Leslie (Brooks) Lzicar, Taunya (Michael) VanPevenage and Ty Smith; along with 27 great-grandchildren: Andrew Tyler, McKenna, Clay, Lizzie, Jessie, Paige, Karlee, Evelyn, Layla, Mady, Tori, Cameron, Cole, Piper, Holden, Leah, Aubrey, Lexie, Palmer, Luke, Michael, Liam russel, Conner, Peyton, chase and Paige; his brother, Don (Mavis) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mark and Anna Smith; brother Ben Smith and sister Irene Marchand.

He attended the Catholic Church, member of the Good Sam’s RV Club, and The Rocky Coulee Ramblers.

Bill and his brothers farmed and ranched North of Odessa for many years as Smith Brothers.

Bill especially enjoyed taking care of the cattle.

After selling the farm, he and Enza along with Ben and Betty moved to Kamiah, Idaho to run the Flying R Outfitters, packing people into the Selway Wilderness Area.

Many hunting stories have come from the tents snuggled into the wilderness camp site.

Bill and Enza then moved to 7 Bays to help Win Self develop the 7 Bays Marina and housing development.

During this time Bill and Enza traveled the area playing Bluegrass music and “Jamming” with their many musical friends; Bill playing his mandolin and Enza playing her “dog house base”.

Bill was indeed a busy guy and was known for being able to fix anything with a piece of duct tape or bailing wire.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Odessa, WA with Father Kenny St. Hillaire, officiating.
