Obituary: Sunde, Dean E.

SUNDE, Dean E. (Age 81) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”.

(Matthew 11:28) Dean E. Sunde, passed away quietly on Sunday morning, November 8, 2015 in Spokane Valley, WA.

Dean was born in rural South Dakota and grew up in the Midwest.

After graduation from high school, he briefly attended the University of Minnesota before being accepted into the USAF Cadet Pilot Training program in 1954.

Dean had a distinguished aviation career, flying for the United States Air Force (Captain) as well as the Washington Air National Guard 116th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Geiger Field.

He also had a career as a pilot for Northwest Airlines (35 years) retiring as a Boeing 747 Captain.

Dean devoted much of his life to building projects, woodworking, and hobby farming.

He enjoyed spending time with family, lending support when needed, and teaching others some of the many skills and lessons he had learned along life’s journey.

Loved by all who knew him; Dean will be missed.

Dean is survived by his wife, Meredith of 55 years; daughters: Susan (Eric) Merrick, Julie (Todd) Ullrich, Tami (Jeffrey) Duty; son David (Susan) Sunde; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Pauline Sunde; and a daughter, Tracy.

The family would like to thank the staff and friends at The Good Samaritan in Spokane Valley, Washington, for all the love, compassionate care and support.

A Celebration of Dean’s life will be held at Valleyford Community Church, 13015 S. Madison Rd.

Valleyford, Washington on Sunday, November 15th at 2:00pm.
