Obituary: Haase, Mike
Age 81
Mike was born July 22, 1934 on the family farm outside Ralston.
He was the son of John and Clarissa Haase.
After graduating from Lind High School, Mike was drafted and served in the army for two years, stationed in Fort Lewis.
During his years in the service, an army buddy introduced him to Sally Dusenberry from Bozeman.
They were married on August 30, 1959.
Mike began farming with his father and raised four children.
Mike learned his love of the land from his father, and his love of family from his mother and Sally’s parents, George and Frances.
Family always came first, a value he passed onto his children and grandchildren.
Mike’s love for community was served through many leadership positions within the Lind United Church of Christ; he also served on the Lind School Board for twenty years and was proud to hand each of his children their high school diplomas.
He will be remembered for his contagious, warm laugh and his ornery demeanor.
During harvest, his voice would boom across the farm as he tried to catch the attention of his truck drivers (his children) that the bulker was full and he needed the truck.
He was also known to use undecipherable hand signals which often left his children wondering what he was saying.
Mike loved making holiday candy and the sweet treats were loved by family and friends.
He took great pride each Christmas season as he made pounds and pounds of caramels, almond roca and fudge to share with all.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Sally’s parents and his brothers Pat and Don.
He is survived by his sister Bev Townsend of Post Falls.
Mike’s legacy lives on through his wife Sally, children Carrie and Ken Nyssen, Don and Sheila Haase, Kristy and David Fode, Becky Haase, and his five grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Nicole, Michael and Matthew.
As Mike wished, there will be no memorial service or viewing.
Memorial contributions would be welcomed for Alzheimer’s research at alz.org or (800) 272-3900 or PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
Memorials are also welcome at the charity of choice.
Those who knew Mike understand he would prefer contributions to this cause instead of flowers.
