Obituary: Cochrane, Evan

Age 87

COCHRANE, Evan (Age 86) Evan Cochrane, passed away peacefully at his home on November 20, 2015.

He was born November 29, 1928, in Seattle.

He is survived by his wife Patti Cochrane; daughter Shari Johnson; son Tom Cochrane and his wife Cindy, all of Spokane; step-son Greg Davenport and his wife Mona of Dallas, Texas; and step-daughter Cindy Schilling of Lexington, Kentucky.

Evan is loved by 12 grandchildren, 10 and great-grandchildren.

After attending Seattle Pacific University, Evan joined General Insurance Company in 1950 (now Safeco Insurance), starting a long and illustrious career in the insurance industry.

He started his own insurance brokerage company, Cochrane & Company in 1960 in Seattle, and moved to Spokane in 1976.

Evan was president of the Washington Surplus Board and was actively involved in several other insurance company boards in his career.

Evan retired in 1994, and the agency is still family-owned and recently welcomed the third generation of Cochrane family members into the business.

After retiring, Evan and his wife spent time in Palm Springs, California, and Hayden Lake, Idaho, enjoying golf and boating.

Evan loved dancing and was very accomplished earning the nickname the “Silver Fox.”

He was an avid runner late into his life.

In the last several years, he was confined to a wheelchair but always maintained a good spirit and was always happy to see friends and family.

A special thank you to his wife Patti for her devoted love and care.

He will be missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
