Obituary: Wickens, Dan Robert
Dan Robert Wickens was our brother, uncle and dear friend.
Dan was born August 25, 1957 in Savannah, GA, to Robert H. and Virginia C. Wickens and big sister, Jana.
It was no surprise that he won 1st place in a Spokane baby contest and later became a very handsome man.
He attended Linwood Elem., Salk Jr. High and graduated from NC High School in 1976.
Dan was known as a remarkable athlete, whether it was basketball, baseball, or snow skiing.
He was impressive to watch.
Dan’s pride and joys were always his impeccably cared for cars and boats he owned.
He was known to pull over to the roadside just to wipe his car off if he saw even a spot of dirt on it!
Working with people was something he was a natural at and brought him success and awards in the car sales business.
He was employed by Sutherland Motors Mercedes, Lexus, and what was previously Shumate Harley Davidson.
He truly liked the finer things in life.
Golf became a very large part of his life, which was taught to him by his best friend, his dad.
Golf was his “happy place”.
Dan is survived by his family: sisters, Jana Adams of Spokane, Nancy Irwin and Jayne Varay of Visalia, CA; nephews, Taylor Adams of Seattle, Patrick, Sean and Christian Irwin; niece, Lorraine Varay of Visalia, CA and his numerous cousins.
Not to forget Dan’s many longtime friends.
From all of his family and dearest friends, to Danny boy, we say, “Fore”!
A Celebration of Life event for Dan will take place after the first of the new year.
Time and place to be announced.
