Obituary: Littell, Veronica Susan (Serbus)

Age 77

LITTELL, Veronica Susan (Serbus) Lost her battle with breast cancer and was taken by the Lord on November 18, 2015.

The youngest of 10 children, Vicky was born November 20, 1938 on a farm near Danube, MN to Joseph and Lillian Serbus.

In 1947, the Serbus family moved to a farm in Olivia, MN where they made their home for the rest of the children’s formative years.

She graduated from the eighth grade in a one-room school and then Morton High School in 1956.

Since the age of six she had wanted to be a nurse so she applied and was accepted for LPN training in Rochester, MN.

After graduation she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for a year and a half.

In 1959, she moved out west to work where her aunt was a Sister of Providence at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA.

She worked as an LPN at Sacred Heart for five years in which time she would meet her husband Gene Littell.

She later went on to work for 30 years in the Spokane School District as an office manager, secretary, and nurse, ultimately retiring in 2004.

She loved interacting with the children and was known for giving good hugs.

Veronica enjoyed the church, her grandchildren, yoga, gardening, sewing and golf.

She was a member of the Sundance Golf Course Women’s Club for several years.

She had many special friends with her travels and loved them dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; daughter Suzette Werner; her parents; brothers, Clarence, George, Joseph, John; and sisters Lillian, Marie, and Cecelia.

Survived by her brother Richard; step-daughter Christina Kenck (Scharff) (Larry); son Clayton Littell; grandchildren Kerrie Haney (Scharff) (Tom), Chad Scharff (Aimee), Amanda Hartman (Werner) (Ryan), Kelsea Werner, Cooper and Kelden Littell; great-grandchildren Savanna and Ciarra Haney and Katelyn and Ethan Scharff.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11 A.M. at Assumption Catholic Church, 3624 W. Indian Trail Road, Spokane, WA.

Committal to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall, Spokane, WA.
