Obituary: Emerson, Margaretta M.

Age 93

EMERSON, Margaretta M. (Age 93) Passed away on September 30, 2015 at Spokane, WA.

She was born on April 10, 1922 at Steele, N. Dakota, to Michael and Ottilie (Zerbst) Tietz.

The family moved to Glaslyn, Saskat- chewan, Canada where she attended her schooling.

In 1941, the family moved to the Palouse area.

In 1946, Margaretta started working at Washington State College in food services.

She later met her future husband, Daniel H. Emerson.

The couple was married on August 31, 1947 at Pullman, WA.

Mr. Emerson died in 1951.

Margaretta continued to live at Pullman, but later moved to Garfield, WA in 1956, and later to Palouse, WA in 1957.

Mrs. Emerson went back to work at Washington State University in 1962 and worked in food services at many dining halls on campus.

She retired in 1982.

She continued to live at Palouse until moving to Moses Lake, WA in 1999 to live near her daughter and later to Spokane, WA in 2000 to be near her son.

She enjoyed making arts and crafts, making cards, reading and canning.

Survivors include one son, Calvin Emerson (Charlene) Spokane, WA; one daughter, Janet Johnson (Carl) Moses Lake, WA; one sister, Esther Nowack, Potlatch, ID.

She is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Potlatch, ID with Pastor Larry Veith officiating.

Burial will follow at the Freeze Cemetery, Potlatch, ID.
