Painting with the pachyderm

Asia, a 47-year-old Asian elephant, demonstrates her artistic skills as she paints with brushes, Oct. 9, 2015, in the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, for a group of young adults from the School to Life program at Barker High School in the Central Valley School District. The school’s program uses art as a way to teach the students how to express themselves. The pachyderm is performing with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus show “Built to Amaze!” through Sunday at the arena.
