Obituary: Sorey, Marion Bernice

Age 95

SOREY, Marion Bernice (Age 95) Of Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 7, 2015 at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Marion was born November 10, 1919 in Spokane, WA, the daughter of William Moran and Lucille Westlund.

Marion graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

In 1940 Marion married the love of her life, Paschal “Patch” Sorey in Nespelem, WA.

They lived briefly in Seattle after his service in World War II before moving to Spokane.

After devoting the majority of her life to raising their six children, Marion devoted many hours of volunteer service to Sacred Heart Parish and the Immaculate Heart Retreat Center.

She sewed various celebratory robes and garments for various priests and bishops as part of her service to the church.

After the death of her husband Patch, Marion was able to enjoy travel with close friends Marge, Joanne, daughter Kathy and son Shannon.

Her parents, her sister Virginia and brother Patrick preceded Marion in death.

She is survived by her six children, Sharon (Claude) Kistler, son and nine year housemate Shannon, Kathleen (Steve) Thomas, Shane, Kevin and Maureen Matsumoto.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am, October 19, 2015 at Sacred Heart Parish, 219 E. Rockwood Blvd., Spokane, WA.

Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Ball and Dodd Funeral Home and Sacred Heart Parish provided arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in her name to the Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, 6910 S. Ben Burr Road, Spokane, WA 99223.
