Obituary: Cleland, James L. “Jim”

Age 88

CLELAND, James L. “Jim” (Age 88) Jim Cleland went home to Jesus on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

Jim was born in Kingsley, Michigan on June 25, 1927 to Walter and Hazel Cleland.

On January 21, 1950 he married Irma G. Hughes.

They moved to Spokane, WA in 1955, where Jim worked at the Millwood Paper Mill for 19 years; he then went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as a lineman until retiring in 1990.

After retirement, Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, and spending winters in Yuma, Arizona.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Walter Cleland and mother Hazel Cleland, as well as two brothers, Charles and Robert.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irma Cleland, his brothers Jack, Alan, Clinton, and sister Ellen Marie, two daughters, Dianna Paschall, husband Jerry of Otis Orchards, WA and Rhonda Cleland of Federal Way, WA; two grandsons, Jeffrey Paschall, wife Amy of Springfield, OR, and Matthew Paschall, wife Mary Jo of Spokane Valley, WA and also five great-granddaughters, Macy, Sadie, Ella, Marissa, and Claire.

A Memorial Service will be held for Jim on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 1:00 pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3606 Schafer Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206.

Jim’s final resting place will be Pines Cemetery, Spokane Valley, WA.
