Obituary: Howry, G. Darrell
Age 78
Darrell was born in Delkena, WA to Ed and Mabel Howry.
He was the third of five children.
He grew up in several small towns before they settled in Rosalia where he attended school.
His first job was working for Bud Bruce of Rosalia helping with crop dusting.
He also worked for Laverne Pitman of Oakdale during harvest.
In moving to Spokane in 1959, he worked for Columbia Lighting, drove City Bus for several years, including during Expo.
He retired in 1979 from Pepsi Bottling after working there for 20 years.
He met his wife Betty (Breese) from Tekoa in 1955 at a football game.
They were married August 20, 1957 and they had three children.
Darrell enjoyed many hobbies.
He played softball with Clyde Cotton and the Spokane Merchants for over 30 years.
He also loved fishing and watching his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.
He also loved to bowl with his many friends.
He is survived by his wife Betty of 58 years.
His three children, Cindy (Bill) Curry, Ray (Kelly) Howry, and Debbie (Pat) McSpadden all of Spokane, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and two on the way, two brothers, Glen Howry of Erwin, NC and Dale Howry of Spokane.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
A celebration of Darrell’s life will be October 25, 2015 at Cascade Mobile Park, 2311 W. 16th.
Ave. in the Club House from 3-5 pm.
Please dress casual and wear blue.
