Two men wounded in West Plains shooting

Two men shot and wounded in the West Plains Tuesday night have been reluctant to cooperate with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office to identify a suspect.

The men were shot around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night in a lot in the 5300 block of West Thorpe Road west of the intersection with South Abbott Road. Both men were taken to the hospital by the caller and treated for non-life threatening injuries before being released.

“We’re not getting a lot of information out of the victims. We have our suspicions as to why,” said patrol Lt. Gary Smith.

Smith said the Sheriff’s Office has nobody in custody and has not recovered any weapons from the scene.

“This is a nest full of thieves and addicts,” Delores Lynch, who lives across the road, said of the property.

Detectives are searching for two masked men driving a vehicle similat to a Chevrolet Equinox, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
