Man faces new charges after car crash victim dies

A man charged with vehicular assault after a July crash is now facing a charge of vehicular homicide after the man he struck died of his injuries nearly a month after the crash.

Jason M. Pederson was driving south on Hamilton Street on July 15 when he made a left turn in heavy traffic at Augusta. David E. Bradbury was riding a motorcycle northbound and hit the side of Pederson’s truck. Bradbury died on Aug. 10.

The police officer who spoke to Pederson after the crash reported smelling both alcohol and marijuana on Pederson, according to court documents. Pederson reportedly admitted that he had smoked marijuana that morning, court documents say.

Pederson’s bond was raised from $5,000 to $20,000 in September. He remains in the Spokane County Jail and is scheduled for trial on Feb. 22.
