Obituary: Fels, Evelyn E. (Park)

Age 90

FELS, Evelyn E. (Park) (Age 90) Evelyn “Evie” passed away peacefully September 6, 2015.

She was born January 6, 1925 in Carlton, WA to Monroe and Lela Park.

She grew up in the Methow Valley attending Twisp High School.

In her senior year the family moved to Chelan where she attended and graduated from Chelan High School also being selected as an Apple Blossom Princess.

It was in Chelan where Evie met her future husband Eugene(Gene) Fels.

They married November 25, 1945 after Gene was discharged from the Army serving in WWII.

During their 64 years of marriage Gene and Evie raised three children while living in Chelan, Seattle, and Spokane (45 years).

Evie worked for Central Valley School District in the kitchens of Greenacres Junior High and Central Valley High School.

She enjoyed fellowship of friends from Foothills Community Church, fishing, camping, and spending time at the “Property” on the Pend Oreille river.

She yodeled, played the harmonica, later in life took up the piano, and also enjoyed singing with her sisters when they were together.

Evie loved family, the traditions of celebrating family birthdays and holiday dinners, family reunions, and visiting family and friends across the state.

Evie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gene, parents Monroe and Lela Park, brother Eugene (Bud), sisters Elaine, Thelma, Naomi (Noni), and Nellie.

She is survived by her children, Mike (Annie) Fels, Patty (Dale) Rockwell, Kay (Mark) Sherwood; grandchildren, Stephanie (David) Stout, Kristi (Frank) Cysewski, Aaron (Breanne) Sherwood; great-grandchildren, Megan, Jared, Tyler, Alex, Jessie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt.

Very caring and giving and a special lady who was a blessing to all who knew her.

A Memorial Service for Evie will be held Monday, September 14, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Rd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane or the Foothills Community Church.
