ENGSTROM, Richard L. (Age 66) Richard L. Engstrom, Sr., of Ocean Shores, WA., died September 4, 2015.

“Dick” was born October 19, 1948 in Spokane, WA to the late Logan and Ava Engstrom and graduated from North Central High School in 1967, where he was an accomplished athlete.

He’s survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra; his children, Joseph, Richard Jr. and Andrea; six grandchildren; and his sister, Sally Thompson.

His twin brother John predeceased him.

Dick believed in hard work and taking care of others; he served in the National Guard and worked 29 years for Macy’s, retiring in 2001 as Regional Operations Manager.

An avid fisherman, Dick enjoyed his annual trip to Langara with his best friend Phil and proudly shared his catch with family, friends, and neighbors.

Dick was passionate about sports, cooking, fantasy novels, and politics, and he marveled at his lucky life, living his final years in his dream home with his sweetheart at the beach.

A private Celebration of Life will be held with immediate family and friends in Ocean Shores, WA.

To honor his life, donations may be made to the Environmental Defense Fund (edf.org) or to help the homeless via Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission (ugm.org).
