Obituary: Quinn, Bernard M. “Barney”

Age 88

QUINN, Bernard M. “Barney” (Age 88) March 25, 1927- September 12, 2015 Barney passed away on September 12, 2015.

He was born March 25, 1927 to Edwin and Patience Quinn in Worley, Idaho.

He grew up and attended various country schools around the Fighting Creek area and finished his schooling in Worley, ID.

Barney joined the Army in 1946 and was based in Germany as an MP.

He was honorably discharged in 1947.

After leaving the service, he met the love of his life and married Erminnie Loe on December 18, 1948 in Coeur d’Alene, ID.

They made their home in the Worley area before moving to Plummer in 1956.

They had four children, Keith, Peggy, Randy and Tom.

Barney worked for the City of Plummer for many years.

Some of his duties included being the town cop, city maintenance, lineman and pretty much anything that needed to be done for the city.

It was a common occurrence to see Barney half way up a pole smiling and waiving in the dead of winter.

He also volunteered with Plummer’s Fire Department.

He loved his job, his town and the people in it.

Barney was a very caring man who was kind to all and didn’t know a stranger.

Barney enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping with his friends and family and woodworking.

He made the most beautiful clocks and if you were lucky enough to have gotten one (or three) you knew you were loved!

Barney and Minnie spent many winters in Apache Junction, Arizona taking in the sun and in the company of good friends.

He is survived by his wife Erminnie; a sister, Adalor Guib of Seattle; his four children, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters Kate and Ruth, three brothers Marvin, Glenn and a baby boy at birth.

At Barney’s request, there will be no services but instead a gathering in the spring at the campsite.
