Spokane Trivia Championship - Second annual knowledge bowl with 18 to 24 three-person teams. Four to six teams will come up on stage at a time to be asked a round of 10 questions in areas such as science and nature, arts and entertainment, sports, geography and local history. The questions will be projected on a screen above the stage, and the teams will have 20 seconds to write their answers down on whiteboards. 7 p.m. Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave. $15. Just Between Friends Consignment Sale - Friday-Sunday. Child consignment sale. Featured items include clothing, Halloween costumes, nursery items, maternity items, baby equipment, books, DVDs and games, children’s furniture, coats, hats and lots of toys. Thursday night is a presale for volunteers, consignors and first-time moms. Hours: 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday. Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Southeast Spokane County Fair - Friday-Sunday. Celebrating the 71st year with “Farming Roots and Dusty Boots.” Community fair with exhibits, entertainment, animals, vendors, food, carnival, parade, fun run, 3-on-3 basketball tournament and helicopter rides. Valleyfest - Friday-Sunday. The three-day event provides entertainment for the entire family, an opportunity to meet and have fun with neighbors. Friday night events: 5 p.m., Pre-Parade Rally and Cruise with Spokane Hot Rod Association at Ron’s Drive-in; 6:30 p.m., Lions Club Bed Races in front of Appleway Florist; 7:30 p.m., Hearts of Gold Parade beginning at University Road and traveling east on Sprague to Pines Road. Oktoberfest at the River - Friday-Sunday. An authentic German event with an all new family-oriented celebration of Oktoberfest. Festivities will include live entertainment with yodeler Manuela Horn, live German music, stein races, beer garden, family activities and wiener dog races. Hours are noon-midnight Friday, with free admission from noon-3 p.m.; 11 a.m.-midnight Saturday; and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, with half-price admission Family Day. Washington State Chinese Lantern Festival Spokane - Saturday-Nov. 1. Celebration of Chinese culture featuring massive lanterns, performances and food. Fifth Annual Touch a Truck - Truck provides a unique opportunity to turn imagination into real-life by putting kids in the driver’s seat of fire engines, police cars, garbage trucks, street sweepers, tow trucks and more. Other activities will include face painting, balloon animals, bounce house, mascots, food trucks, informational booths, raffles and more.
