College track and field: WSU distance runners set several top times
Several Washington State distance runners set personal-best times Friday during a pair of track and field meets in the San Francisco area.
At the Stanford Invitational, redshirt senior Forrest Shaffer lowered his 3,000-meter steeplechase PR time to 8 minutes, 51.73 seconds for third place in his section.
Freshman Chandler Teigen ran a PR of 3:50.13 in the 1,500 for third place. Sophomore Sam Levora (Sandpoint) placed eighth in his 5,000 section with a PR of 14:17.44.
At the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, sophomore Devon Bortfeld ran a PR of 10:41.82 in the women’s 3,000 steeplechase for 14th place and the eighth-best time in WSU history.
Freshman Reid Muller placed 14th in the men’s 1,500 with a personal-best 3:53.74.
