Obituary: Gillogly, Donna Garberg
GILLOGLY, Donna (Garberg)
Donna Mae (Garberg) Gillogly was born in 1936 in New Deal, Montana, which was a boom town during the construction of Fort Peck Dam.
During her childhood, the family moved often following work for her father to other dams throughout the northwest.
Donna attended several schools and graduated from Vancouver High School in 1954.
Donna would have described herself as a tomboy who loved cheerleading.
After high school graduation, Donna went to California for a short period of time and then ended up in Spokane where she worked at The Bon Marche.
Spokane is where she met and married her husband of 57 years, Jim Gillogly.
Shortly thereafter she had two children.
Donna’s days were filled with many family and friends.
She always had her door open for visitors.
She hosted weddings, bridal and baby showers, graduation parties, holiday parties and many gatherings of friends.
Donna also spent many days sitting in bleachers watching baseball games.
hockey games, figure skating practices and volley- ball games.
Donna spent the last several years caring for her husband who passed away one year ago.
On March 17, 2016, Donna joined him and her sister Marlene (Garberg) Gibson.
Donna is survived by her siblings, Ron Garberg, Darla Saywer and Gary Garberg; her children, Jerry Gillogly and Patty Gillogly Ray; her grand- children, Hayden and Kayley Ray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is hosting a Celebration of Life open house for Donna on April 16th at the Red Lion River Inn, Shoreline Room A from 2-5pm.
They would like to invite Donna’s family and friends to join them.
