Edna Hart passed quietly away on January, 3, 2016.
She was a longtime resident of Spokane spent most of her long life caring for the people around her.
Edna was born on September 19, 1916 near Spirit Lake, Idaho to Swedish immigrant parents, Karl Albin and Inga Elvina (Eriksson) Johnson.
Edna left home to attend Spirit Lake High School where she graduated in 1934.
An intelligent and independent young woman, Edna moved to Spokane and graduated from Kinman Business University in 1936 and later Whitworth College in 1958.
When her parents were no longer able to keep up their farm they moved to Spokane and Edna moved in to help them.
Hoping to pass on her love of learning, Edna taught at Jefferson grade school until she retired in 1975.
Edna was an active member of the First Covenant Church and volunteered at Deaconess Hospital.
She was also an avid reader.
Edna married Harold Hart in 1977.
They were married for 27 years and enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and volunteering at their church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hart; her brothers, Elmer Johnson, Eric Johnson and Carl Samuel Johnson; and her step-son, Gary Hart.
She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Wesley Johnson, Randall Johnson, Ruth (Johnson) Baum, James Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Kristine (Johnson) Davis, and Mark Johnson.
She is also survived by her step-son Norman Hart; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Edna was loved by all of her family.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Ball and Dodd Funeral Home on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10:00 am.
