Stolen government SUV recovered in North Spokane
A stolen government SUV was recovered Tuesday evening from an apartment complex parking lot in the 7800 block of North Morton Street, not far from the federal facility where it was stolen.
“We just found it dumped,” said Spokane Police Department spokeswoman Officer Teresa Fuller.
Someone cut through the fence at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security building at 7600 N. Market St. and stole a white Chevy Tahoe around 2 a.m. Tuesday, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Mark Gregory said.
The suspect went into the garage to take the car, then drove it through the chain-link fence surrounding the building to escape, Gregory said.
A person who lived in the area reported seeing a blue Chevy pickup in the area of the building during the theft, Gregory said. That truck left shortly after the stolen car, the witness reported.
The Sheriff’s Office has no suspects and is continuing to investigate.
