Spokane parking officer reports assault after putting parking boot on SUV

A Spokane parking enforcement officer reported being assaulted Tuesday after he and his partner put a parking boot on an SUV parked in the 100 block of East Sinto.

The parking officer told police that two men came outside and began yelling about the boot. After the two parking officers got back into their vehicle one of the men reportedly reached in a partially open window and slapped one of the parking officers in the face, according to court documents.

The person who allegedly struck the parking officer was identified as 19-year-old Daly M. Tom, who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. Parking enforcement officers have limited police commissions.

Police officers who responded to the incident wrote in court documents that the parking officer who reported being assaulted had a red mark on his face.
