Spokane River closed between Sullivan and Old Mission Avenue takeout

From staff reports

High water levels and construction-related hazards prompted the city of Spokane Valley to close the Spokane River farther upstream from the Sullivan Bridge construction project that what’s been previously posted.

The river is now closed between Sullivan Road and the Old Mission Avenue takeout point, which is just west of Flora Road.

The expanded area runs from 500 feet west of the Sullivan Bridge construction area and extends two-thirds mile upstream from the construction site.

Signs are posted along the river upstream of the Old Mission Avenue access, pointing river users to the mandatory takeout point on the southeast side of the river.

The closure may change as water levels change and construction progresses, but is expected to be in place through October.
