Man upset over roommate’s dating advice accused of pulling gun
A man’s attempt to give dating advice to his heartbroken roommate ended poorly after his roommate allegedly pulled a gun on him.
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jerry Kuta, 36, at a home in the Pasadena Park neighborhood of Spokane Valley Wednesday night after he allegedly pointed both a pistol and a rifle at his roommate, court documents say.
The victim told investigators Kuta was upset after breaking up with his girlfriend, court documents say. He tried to give Kuta relationship advice, but Kuta became upset with him. When he tried to put his arm around Kuta to calm him down, Kuta allegedly pushed him onto the ground.
Kuta had been drinking and smoking marijuana with the victim prior to the fight, the police report says.
The two started fighting, the victim told police, and Kuta pulled a pistol out from under a couch cushion and pointed it at the victim’s chest area. The victim was able to wrestle the gun away from Kuta and hide the gun in his bedroom. When he came out of the room, they began physically fighting again, court documents say.
The victim told police Kuta went into his room and came out with a .40 caliber rifle, which he pointed at the victim’s face.
Deputies responded and interviewed Kuta, who said he got upset because the victim was telling him “how he should treat his girlfriend,” court documents say. He said he pointed the rifle at the ground while telling the victim to leave him alone.
Deputies found both guns were loaded with a bullet in the chamber.
Kuta was arrested on investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault.
